Degree: Bachelor of Arts (Community, Culture & Environment)

Describe the Bega Education Centre in three words:
Supportive – Learning - Environment

Why did you choose the University of Wollongong?
I chose UOW because of the Bega campus availability. I wanted to give University study a go but didn’t want to move from the local area.

What are the advantages of attending a University close to home?
For me, being able to attend university so close to where I live is a real bonus, because I can combine part time work and part time study without moving away from family and friends.

Why did you choose this degree?
I originally enrolled in a Bachelor of Business Administration, but found the arts subjects more suited to my interests. However, I hope to combine some business and commerce subjects in my degree.

Describe what you enjoy the most about the Bega Education Centre:
I enjoy the friendly and supportive environment and feeling like “one of the gang”! I have met some terrific people and find the ongoing encouragement and assistance from staff, tutors and fellow students great.

What prompted your return to study?
I had always wanted to attend University, but didn’t have the opportunity earlier in life. When I saw the advertising in the local media about the Bega campus, I decided to give it a go. I am enjoying my studies at UOW and am very grateful for all the assistance and support I have been given.

What are some of your career-related ambitions?
As I am a part-time student my immediate plans are mainly to concentrate on my studies. But I certainly hope to be using my degree to help people in some way in the future.
